The fire-engine red northeast corner of 100th Street signals something special inside - a perfect “noir” locale for a memorable encounter. But, this is no Poirot mystery; it’s the setting where Chef Johan Halsberghe will create for us a special menu of the season, highlighted by Belgian classics and paired with Loire wines from the Chantepleure cellars. The evening will conclude with the revelation of the one menu “unknown:” what will be paired with mousse, the speciality of the house?

The Chantepleure Directors invite Members to a specially curated tasting in our homes.
This year, to honor our recently departed co-founder, David Goldfarb, we will focus on the terroir of his greatest passion– the wines of Vouvray. The three dimensions (3D) of Chenin: Sec, Demi-Sec , and Moelleux, will be represented by a trio of the most highly regarded Vouvray vignerons–Careme, Pinon, and Foreau. The fourth D–David–will be present not only in mind, but in the presentation of the Moelleux, generously donated from his personal cellar by Connie, his wife of 70 years.
Each of the 4 (free) tastings will showcase the same selection of wines, so the only variable will be the time and place.
There are 4 dates/ times from which to chose. Attendance is limited–each small group is limited to 5 members (no guests)–and only available on a first-come, first-served basis. So, don’t dally! If your first choice is “Sold Out,” pick another! If you have previously been in the home of one Director, if possible, please sign up for another. For security and privacy, details of the exact locations of the Director’s home will be sent by email at a later date.
There is no charge to members for the tasting, but advance registration is essential.

Rosenthal Wine Merchant
1590 Lexington Avenue
New York, NY, 10029
A tasting of recent vintages at the shop dedicated uniquely to importer Neal Rosenthal’s (RWM) portfolio will be guided by a representative of RWM, and by Directors of the Chantepleure. This location was the site of the first event of the Society of the Chantepleure, and the Directors view this annual tasting as a “homecoming” with Old Friends.
This will be a wonderful opportunity to explore the diversity of wines produced in the Loire Valley, to compare and contrast the effect of terroir, and to get a better sense of how climate change is influencing the character of wines produced in these historic appellations. And, there is always the possibility that bottles other than those listed below may be opened to celebrate the occasion.
Featured wines will include:
Château de Eperonnière, Crémant de Loire Blanc 2021
Domaine les Trois Toits, Muscadet Sevre-et-Maine, “Phileas” 2021
Lucien Crochet, Sancerre Blanc, “La Croix du Roy” 2022

Eulalie
239 West Broadway
New York NY 10013
When we arrive for this specially curated dinner, Eulalie will have been open for only a few weeks and our dinner will effectively be a sneak preview - before reviews are published and reservations impossible to obtain - at what promises to be one of the more important NY restaurant openings of the Fall season.
West Broadway is the new setting for the cuisine of Tina Vaughn and Chip Smith, our host and chef co-owners, who many of you may remember from their earlier UES incarnation, The Simone, which was awarded 3-stars by the NYTimes.
In this new location, the name Eulalie, taken from a single vineyard in Cahors, signals a fresh and exciting rebirth of Tina and Chip’s approach to the marriage of cuisine and carefully curated wines, each of which have been selected to marry seamlessly with their cuisine.
Join us for an evening of culinary creativity and the adventure of wines from vignerons whose names may not yet be on your radar.
Please Note: Seating is extremely limited, and reservations will be accepted on a first-come basis.
For this event, the restaurant will be open exclusively to Members. Members may invite a single non-Member guest to accompany them, at the special price offered. Guests of the restaurant will be admitted by invitation only.

The Chantepleure Directors invite Members to individually curated tastings in our homes.
In this tasting, we will explore the expression of three separate appellations through the lens of Chenin Blanc Sec (Vouvray, Savennieres, Saumur…)
Each of the 5 tastings - in small groups - will be unique, however all will hew to a common theme: wines (and nibbles) selected from the host’s personal collection that speak to us as signature expressions of each appellation and that we are most excited to share with our friends.
There are 5 directors and 5 dates to chose from, but attendance is limited - and only available on a first-come, first-served basis. So, don’t dally! If your first choice is “Sold Out,” don’t fret: pick another! If you have previously been in the home of a Director, please sign up for another tasting. The Chantepleure Directors invite Members to individually curated tastings in our homes.
The Commandeur will reveal the secret of these extraordinary, long lived sweet wines, perhaps the ultimate expression of Chenin Blanc.
As David Goldfarb recounts stories of his lifelong friendship with the Foreau family, Moelleux from the 1989 and 1990 vintages of Clos Naudin will be compared, accompanied by a cup of homemade heirloom tomato soup (2022 crop), a selection of cheeses, and homemade Syrian pastries. A third wine, served blind, will round out this memorable tasting experience.

5:30-7:30 PM
at the Home of Carol & Dick Sard
Upper West Side
The Chantepleure Directors invite Members to individually curated tastings in our homes.
In this tasting, we will explore wines of the Eastern Loire, including Sauvignon Blancs from Pouilly and Sancerre, and Pinot Noirs from Menetou Salon.
Pairs of young and mature wines from each of the three appellations will provide an opportunity to better appreciate the effects of both terroir and age. The accompanying nibbles of goat cheese, fish and meat based terrines will create a true Loire Valley tasting experience!
For security and privacy, details of the exact locations of the selected Director’s home will be sent by email at a later date.
